Numerical simulation of Laminar Free Convection Heat Transfer around Isothermal Concave and Convex Body Shapes
In the present research, free convection heat transfer from isothermal concave and convex body shapes is studied numerically. The body shapes investigated here, are bi-sphere, cylinder, prolate and cylinder with hemispherical ends; besides, they have the same height over width (H/D = 2). A Numerical simulation is implemented to obtain heat transfer and fluid flow from all of the geometries in a...
متن کاملNumerical Predictions of Turbulent Mixed Convection Heat Transfer to Supercritical Fluids Using Various Low Reynolds Number k-e Turbulence Models
There are a number of systems in which supercritical cryogenic fluids are used as coolants or propellant fluids. In some modern military aircraft, the fuel is pressurized above its critical point and used as a coolant to remove heat from the aircraft engine. Accurate prediction of heat transfer coefficients to turbulent flows of supercritical fluids is essential in design of such systems. One o...

Laminar Film Condensation Heat Transfer on a Vertical, Non-Isothermal, Semi- Infinite Plate
This paper gives similarity transformations for laminar film condensation on a vertical flat plate with variable temperature distribution and finds analytical solutions for arbitrary Prandtl numbers and condensation rates. The work contrasts with Sparrow and Gregg’s assertion that wall temperature variation does not permit similarity solutions. To resolve the long debatable issue regarding heat...
متن کاملMixed Convection Heat Transfer from a Vertical Plate Embedded in a Bidisperse Porous Medium
This work studies the mixed convection heat transfer from a vertical plate in bidisperse porous media with constant wall temperature. The two-velocity two-temperature model is used to derive the governing equations. The effects of the mixed convection parameter, the inter-phase heat transfer parameter, the modified thermal conductivity ratio, and the permeability ratio on the heat transfer and ...
